Haircut

Fernando Figueras, 16, from Honduras, suddenly discovered he had a cancerous tumor on his lung. His family came to the U.S. at the end of Oct. to get more advanced treatment.

"The people are nice," he says. "But it's boring." He's staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Fort Lauderdale, where they provide a place to stay for the families of out-of-town children that receive long-term treatment from the hospital across the street. There are no kids his age. "It's just little kids and parents," he said.

Today, he gets a buzz cut because the treatment is already making his hair fall out.

"It's ugly," he replies with a smile to his mother's compliments.
