Abell
I just recieved Sam Abell's new book, "The Life of a Photograph" which is awesome and inspirational. It inspired me to wander around during late evening and try to be more "contemplative," as he says, about pictures. Maybe that's an obvious lesson, but it's one that I never really grasp in the moment. Here's one I liked from my walk.

New website
In my free time (I have a lot of it lately) I learned a little dreamweaver and put together a new website.
Check it out if you got a sec. I'm still working on fixing a couple problems, but, it's almost done ... until I decide to change it again soon, probably. I'll be adding some more content from Costa Rica, too.

Costa Rica
I found a few images from Costa Rica that I liked. It feels like so long ago that I was there. I miss that way of life a little. It was simple and fun. No cars. No errands. No deadlines. No need to worry about money. The whole summer was built around enjoying the company of some pretty cool people. These pictures don't show too much of that. They're just a couple I ran across today.
Volcano Arenal erupts all day long. At night, if you're lucky, you can see the lava flows. It reminded me of the dinosaur books I used to read when I was little.
Iris says goodbye to her small-town community after announcing that she'll be moving away to become a nurse.
Me on a rock on the coolest place I think I'll ever live. I stayed one week in Puntamala with some biologists in a beach-side hut type thing. Every night, we'd walk the beach for a couple hours in the dark, looking for sea turtles.

No. 3 has a bad third quarter
I borrowed a camera and shot some stills at a high school football game while Tulsa World chief photog and friend, Tom Gilbert, was transmitting. Within a couple minutes of play, No. 3 got rocked a couple of times. Bad quarter for him, those Oklahoma boys hit hard. I used to think movies like Friday Night Lights were always exaggerating the hits, but I saw some similar stuff in one quarter of this game. Guys getting flipped and landing on their heads and stuff.
